Blackpool Airshow 2024 Display times

Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th August.

The stunning Blackpool sands and iconic Tower make a unique backdrop to one of the North West’s finest air shows. The primary action takes place between North Pier and Central Pier, Tower Festival Headland, Blackpool, Lancashire, FY1 4BJ.

Saturday August 10th 2024 Air Show Display Times

  • 2:00pm – RAF Red Arrows display team.
    Opening this years action packed show the perennial favourites of air shows the world over, The Red Arrows, will open the Saturday and Close the Sunday show with a nine aircraft display. The world’s most spectacular and exciting flying team have entertained millions of spectators over the years and will wow the crowds once again with a spectacular display over both days of the 2024 Blackpool Air Show.   • 2:32pm – Calidus Autogyro
    One of my favourites, always a delight, and back again this year. The enigmatic Calidus Gyrocopter is next to tickle our fancy, quirky but great fun. Piloted by Peter Try-Davies Visit Gyro Air Displays website.
     
  • 2:45pm – RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
    Airshow favourites Avro Lancaster & Hawker Hurricane visiting the skies of Blackpool. British WW2 favourites. Visit BBMF website.
     
  • 3:06pm – Aero L-39 Albatros
    The Aero L-39 Albatros is a high-performance jet trainer designed and produced in Czechoslovakia by Aero Vodochody. It is the most widely used jet trainer in the world, in addition to performing basic and advanced pilot training, it has also flown combat missions in a light-attack role.
     
  • 3:19pm – Team Raven Aerobatics
    Raven display team flying the RV-8, a high performance self assembly aircraft, in close up to six aircraft formations. Visit the Team Raven website
     
  • 3:39pm – Muscle Pitts Biplane
    Stunning acrobatics with highly modified Pitts Special biplanes flown by Rich Goodwin and his team of highly experienced and skilled aerobatic pilots whose displays offers all the smoke and noise of a modern air display act, coupled with the unbeatable character of the 1940’s designed Pitts Special biplane.   • 3:54pm – Catalina Flying Boat – Miss Pick Up.
    A fresh face at this years airshow, Catalina G-PBYA was originally ordered for the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Canso A amphibian, basically equivalent to the US Navy PBY-5A. It was built by Canadian Vickers at Cartierville, Quebec and was allocated their constructors number CV-283 before adopting the RCAF serial 11005. It was taken on charge by the air force on 27 October 1943 and initially saw service with 9 (Bomber Reconnaissance) Squadron at Bella Bella on the British Columbia coast between Vancouver and Prince Rupert.   • 4:07pm – de Havilland Chipmunk.
    The BBMF has two de Havilland Chipmunks: WG486 and WK518. The ‘Chippies’ are the least displayed aircraft on the BBMF fleet, but they are used year-round for the training of the Flight’s pilots on tail-wheel aircraft, the reconnaissance of new venues, and the delivery and collection of pilots and spare parts.
    Canadian designed Chipmunk entered RAF service in 1950 replacing the Tiger Moth as an initial pilot trainer, offering relatively modern features such as flaps, brakes, radio and an enclosed cockpit. Over seven hundred Chipmunks wre delivered for use in the Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and British Army. RAF de Havilland Chipmunk Website.
     
  • 3:49pm – AeroSuperBatic Wingwalkers
    Audacious, brave, daredevils. A pair of the Aero SuperBatics Wing Walkers, the world’s only formation wing walking team with their beautiful Boeing Stearman biplanes. There will be a breathtaking sequence of formation loops and rolls, while daring wing walkers perform acrobatics on their wings. During all of this, the wingwalkers experience speeds of up to 150 mph and ‘G’ forces of up to 4G! Aero SuperBatics website.
     
  • 4:42pm – Fairy Swordfish
    The Fairy Swordfish torpedoe bomber in May 1941 Royal Naval Air Service Fairy Swordfish from the aircraft carrier HMS Victorious torpedoed the German Battleship Bismarck disabling its rudder leaving it vulnarable to British battleships HMS King George 5th and HMS Rodney along with several cruisers who engaged the Bismark the following day and sank it.
     
  • 4:55pm – Spitfire and North American Mustang
    Rolls Royce Heritage Trust Supermarine Spitfire and North American Mustang P-51D world war 2 era Merlin engined aircraft.Rolls Royce Heritage Trust.
     
  • 5:24pm – RAF Eurofighter Typhoon FGR Mk4
    State of the art military aircraft technology at Blackpool Air show with the RAF Typhoon displaying its cutting edge capabilities, the worlds most agile aircraft. Witness an elite RAF front line squadron in action.
    Piloted by Flt Lt David ‘Turbo’ Turnbull, this year’s Typhoon Display aircraft proudly showcases a camouflage scheme reminiscent of the RAF Hawker Typhoon aircraft during Operation OVERLORD. RAF Typhoon Display Team website.

Note: The display times are approximate and can be subject to change.

There are also static displays and stands on the Headland, Airshow Village, with something to entertain and surprise everyone.

Please Note

Organisers always advise visitors to get to Blackpool and over to Tower Festival Headland early as demand for public car parks is likely to be exceptionally high.

An overspill car park may be available at Blackpool Airport at the south end of the promenade, offering visitors a chance to park all day for £5 using the PayByPhone app. The car park is a short walk from the Starr Gate tram terminus, where people can take a tram to the Tower Festival Headland.

The air show can be affected by inclement weather and displays can be rescheduled or cancelled at short notice, if in any doubt about the display or car parking in Blackpool contact the Tourist Information Centre telephone 01253 478222
