  • YAK Trio.
The formation for this year includes a unique Yak aircraft: two Yak-52s and one Yak-18T, Leading the team is pilot Phil Hardisty.
The Yak-52, initially introduced in 1976, was created as a training aircraft aimed at equipping Soviet military pilots with the skills necessary to operate fast jets such as the MiG-21 and MiG-29. With the ability to withstand forces of +7/-5G, this aircraft continues to be heavily utilised and has even spawned different versions, including those with tailwheel and enhanced avionics. It saw extensive use within Ukrainian and Romanian units and is still being produced in Romania.
With only its name in common, the Yak-18T stands out as a one-of-a-kind edition. Originally designed as a civilian plane in the late 1960s, it boasts a nose-wheel, four to five seats, and a powerful 400hp nine-cylinder radial engine. Its purpose ranged from training bomber crews to preparing Aeroflot pilots. The 18T impressively blends sturdy construction with agile, effortless manoeuvrability.
